Triangle Tigers Support Local Film Production

During it’s North Carolina Premiere at the Longleaf Film Festival in Raleigh, members of the Mizzou Triangle Tigers chapter showed their support for THE HARROW, a psychological thriller filmed in North Carolina.  Mizzou Triangle Tigers board member, Jill Hammergren was the Associate Producer and Production Unit Manager for the movie. At the event, THE HARROW won 2017 Narrative Feature Best Drama and received a  2017 Tar Heel Tie-in recognition for having a North Carolina connection. “We filmed this feature at several locations in Greensboro, Oxford, Raleigh, and in Alamance and Person counties,” said Hammergren.  “It was an intense 18 days of production. We were very fortunate to have some terrific locations, and work with many excellent people and businesses, who helped make the production happen in North Carolina.” In THE HARROW, protagonist, Miller Lee (Tom McKay), spends his days in self-imposed solitude in an empty century-old North Carolina slaughterhouse. He is haunted, or kept company, by visions of Gale (Maggie Geha), a woman he loved a decade ago who was brutally murdered. Ruth (Sonya Harum) comes into his world. She’s a young woman who is desperate to know the truth about her mother’s life and death. This need drives her to push through the dark passages of Miller’s psyche. Miller feels empathy and kinship for Ruth, but as much as he wants to help her, Miller can’t give Ruth what she desires most. Over three nights together in the slaughterhouse, Miller and Ruth trade elements of their own grim past, lifting layers and untangling the web. “We shot this film over three weeks during the tobacco harvest season in North Carolina. I wanted to set this story in the South, which has always seemed to me as America’s greatest wealth of history, tradition and stories,” said Kevin Stocklin, Writer/Director, THE HARROW, “The characters in this story are all tightly bound to their past, struggling to break free from their deeds and circumstances. Their tragedy is that, even though their hearts can change with time and revelation, they remain forever bound to the deeds of their youth.”

THE HARROW is available on DVD and for digital download.
